Temperature:Transport on ice. Refrigerate if transport is delayed more than 1 hour.
Normal:No virus isolated.
Uses:Detects and identifies viral infection in urine.

Detectable viruses - Adenovirus, CMV,

Please notify the Virology Lab if looking for Measles or Mumps
Limitations:Proper specimen collection and transport are critical in the detection of etiological agents. A negative result does not rule out a viral infection.

If Adenovirus or CMV is the only virus suspected, PCR for is more sensitive and specific and has a turnaround time of 1 day.
