|Specimen:||Sterile swab of oral lesion or area or swab of throat|
|Volume:||Sterile swab (no swabs with wooden shafts please)|
|Container:||Sterile swab of oral area/throat in Viral/Chlamydia transport media.|
|Temperature:||Transport on ice. Refrigerate if transport is delayed more than 1 hour|
|Rejection:||Specimens not submitted in Viral/chlamydia transport medium will be rejected.|
|Normal:||No Chlamydia trachomatis/pneumonia/psittaci isolated.|
|Uses:||To detect and identify infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis/pneumonia/psittaci.|
|Limitations:||Proper specimen collection and transport are critical in the detection of etiological agents. A negative result does not rule out a chlamydia infection.|
