Detectable Viruses – Adenovirus, CMV, Enterovirus, HSV, Influenza A/B, Parainfluenza 1/2/3/4, RSV, VZV.
Please notify the Virology Lab if looking for Measles, Mumps, or Rhinovirus.
|Limitations:||For better turnaround time and broader spectrum of viruses identified, a RIDPP/Respiratory Viral Panel for PCR should be ordered instead of the NWVC. If CMV or VZV is suspected PCR for the suspected virus should be ordered on the specimen.
Proper specimen collection and transport are critical in the detection of etiological agents. A negative result does not rule out a viral infection.
