Rejection:Improper labeling or wrong collection tube.

Uses:Determination of blood type and possible presence of antibody in patients who may require future transfusions. Indicated in surgeries where likelihood of transfusion is remote.
Limitations:Does not assure compatibility if blood is required before a crossmatch can be completed. Donor units are not crossmatched or set aside when this test is ordered. Crossmatching of donor units will only occur if notified by the physician or nursing unit.
