Detectable Viruses - Adenovirus, CMV, Enterovirus, HSV, VZV
|Limitations:||Proper specimen collection and transport are critical in the detection of etiological agents. A negative result does not rule out a viral infection.
If Adenovirus, CMV, HSV or VZV is the only virus suspected, PCR is a more sensitive and specific test and has a turnaround time of 1 day.
