Minimum requirement - 20 ul serum
Container:Red top tube
Temperature:Room temperature
Normal:A titer <8 indicates no antibody detected. A titer of > or = 8 usually indicates an active infection.
Uses:Aids in the diagnosis of a CMV infection.
Limitations:A negative titer does not necessarily rule out CMV infection.

If indicated test a convalescent specimen 4 to 6 weeks later to see if there is a fourfold rise in titers signifying a recent infection.
