Normal:Negative.
Uses:Test is specific for detection of glucose in urine. Other sugars (lactose, fructose, galactose) and reducing metabolites of drugs (salicylates) will not be detected by this method.
Limitations:Substances that cause abnormal urine color, such as drugs containing azo dyes (e.g., Pyridium) may affect the reading of the reagent areas on the dipsticks. Large quantities of ketones and ascorbic acid may depress color reaction; hypochlorite, peroxide, and chlorine may give false positives.
