Temperature:Transport to laboratory within 30 minutes.
Rejection:Antacid therapy administrated within 60 minutes prior to collection.
Normal:Occult blood: None Detected. pH: 1.0-2.0
Uses:Early detection of gastric trauma; evaluation of antacid therapy.
Limitations:Many foods (meats, fruits, vegetables) have peroxidase activity which can produce a positive result. Ascorbic acid can cause false negative results.
