Turnaround:3 -4 days
Specimen:Tissue biopsy sample
Volume:Sterile piece of tissue
Container:Sterile piece of tissue submitted in Viral/Chlamydia transport media.
Temperature:Transport on ice. Refrigerate if transport is delayed more than 1 hour.
Rejection:Tissue collected in formalin or other fixative.
Normal:No Chlamydia trachomatis/pneumonia/psittaci isolated.
Uses:Detects and identifies infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis/pneumonia/psittaci.
Limitations:Proper specimen collection and transport are critical in the detection of etiological agents. A negative result does not rule out a Chlamydia infection.
