Temperature:Room temperature. Transport to the lab within 30 minutes
Rejection:Urinary catheter tips are not cultured.
Room temperature more than 12 hours old
Refrigerated more than 12 hours old
Normal:No growth or normal skin flora
Uses:Identification of microorganism that may cause infection.
Limitations:Antibiotic therapy may inhibit growth. Contamination with adjacent areas should be avoided.
