The department of psychology at Dayton Children's offers a wide range of services to address the behavioral and psychological needs of children, adolescents and their families. Specialized assessments, testing and counseling are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Staff members serve on many care teams throughout the medical center.

Services We Offer
Dayton Children’s outpatient Psychology Department offers a full spectrum of services including: Evaluation, psychotherapy & psychological testing. To achieve treatment goals the parent & child will need to attend appointments on a regularly scheduled basis.
Consultation Services Include:
- Medical adherence & motivation.
- Emotional issues related to medical diagnosis.
- Adjustment & coping with medical illness & injuries.
- Assistance with coping strategies associated with medical procedures.
- Brief behavioral plan for medical issues.
- Assessing depressive symptoms related to illness and/or hospitalization.
- Assessment of anxiety related to illness/hospitalization.
- Assessment of how stress may be contributing to medical symptoms.
Outpatient Psychological issues addressed include:
- Medical adherence & motivation.
- Emotional issues related to medical diagnosis.
- Adjustment & coping strategies associated with medical illness and injuries.
- Assistance with coping strategies associated with medical procedures.
- Healthy lifestyle behaviors.
- Relaxation techniques.
- Anxiety/depression.
- Parenting issues related to medical diagnosis
- Pain management.
- Child behavioral problems.
- Assessment of developmental concerns.
Our school psychologist is also available to assist with concerns of:
- Suspected learning disabilities.
- Educational performance concerns.
