The cardiology team provides diagnosis and treatment of acquired heart problems and congenital heart disease or malfunction in children. Recently added programs at Dayton Children's include an adult congenital heart disease clinic, a certified fully digital, echocardiography laboratory and an upgraded exercise center capable of supporting additional metabolic information as well as myocardial perfusion imagine.

Conditions We Treat

  • Congenital heart disease
  • Heart murmurs of unclear etiology
  • Cardiac arrhythmias (bradyarrhythmias/tachyarrhythmias)
  • Acquired heart disease (acute rheumatic fever, endocarditis, Kawasaki disease)
  • Syncope
  • Chest pain
  • Adult congenital heart defects

  • Rhythm strip recording
  • Holter monitors (24- and 48-hour recording available)
  • Ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring (event recording)
  • Transesophageal electrocardiographic recording and pacing
  • Electrocardiography
  • Transesophageal echocardiography
  • Fetal echocardiography
  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Exercise stress testing
  • Stress echocardiography
  • Tilt table testing

Our on-site echocardiography laboratory is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) in all forms of pediatric echocardiography including transthoracic, fetal and transesophageal.  It is the only lab in the Miami Valley region to achieve full accreditation in all three modes of pediatric echocardiography.

Fetal Conditions

Dayton Children's is part of the Fetal to Newborn Care Center. If during your pregnancy your baby is diagnosed with a fetal condition, our nurse navigator will help walk you through the process of meeting with specialists for both your pregnancy and after birth.
