Dietetics and Nutrition

Nutrition is vital for continued wellness to recovery from illness or surgery. Dieticians and dietetic technicians at Dayton Children’s work with physicians and other members of the health care team in inpatient and outpatient settings to help patients and their families with their nutritional needs.

Services We Offer

Inpatients screened for nutrition risk when admitted
Nutrition care plans developed for at-risk patients
Nutrition assessments consults upon request
Family assistance with menu selection during hospitalization
Room service for inpatients with delivered within 20 minutes
Family guidance for home meal planning
Modified diets for patients with special food needs, including:
- Diabetic diets
- Sodium-restricted diets
- Modified texture diets
- High protein-high calorie diets
- Special formula preparation
The Body Shop, a weight loss and exercise program for children 7 to 18 years old.

Dietitians may speak with community groups as their schedules permit
