West Central Ohio Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center is one of only six sickle cell programs in the state of Ohio, and the only program located in the greater Dayton region, that provides services to infants, children and teens with sickle cell disease. The team consists of a physician, nurse coordinator and outreach coordinator, social worker and dietitian.

Diagnoses or conditions treated

Abnormal hemoglobinopathies such as

  • Sickle Cell disease (such as Sickle Cell anemia, Hemoglobin SC disease and Sickle beta thalassemia)
  • Sickle Cell trait
  • Thalassemias (Alpha and Beta)
  • Other hemoglobin variants

  • evaluation, diagnosis and treatment

Upcoming Events

The Dayton Police Department and the Dayton Fire Department have teamed up with the Dayton Dragons to host “Battle of the Badges,” a charity softball game, on June 23, 2013 to benefit the CARE House. The Dragons host the Lansing Lugnuts at 4 PM that afternoon and the softball game between Dayton’s finest will follow.
