Day surgery patient rooms offer privacy (all private rooms) and the comforts of home--TV, DVD, computer game systems and more. Children are encouraged to bring video games, DVDs, a favorite stuffed animal or other item to make them feel more comfortable.

Presurgery Tours

Anxiety before surgery affects recovery. Presurgery tours help lessen a child's anxiety about an upcoming surgery.

  • Tours are held twice weekly--Mondays and Wednesdays--at 7:00 pm. No reservation is needed for the one-hour tour.  Note: Tours are not held on major holidays or the evening before a major holiday.
  • To request a DVD or video to learn about outpatient surgery, call the number below.

The advanced surgery complex at Dayton Children's is the only surgery center in the region staffed by pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and other surgical experts. More than 12,500 surgeries on infants, children and teens are performed at Dayton Children's every year. Even when caring for this many infants, children and teens, the surgery staff receives consistently high satisfaction scores from the parents and families we survey.
