The gastroenterology and nutrition department provides evaluation and diagnosis for infants, children and adolescents with disease involving the esophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas and liver. In addition to providing inpatient and outpatient services, the department also conducts research in the areas of nutrition support, GI motility studies and diseases of the liver and gastrointestinal tract. Our nutrition support service complements the treatment of gastrointestinal disease by providing comprehensive nutrition assessments and recommendations. The nutrition support service supervises intravenous and oral feedings for patients at Dayton Children's.
Starting November 2011 Dayton Children's will offer a new liver clinic in collaboration with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and William Balistreri, MD. Dr. Balistreri is the medical director for the pediatric liver care center at Cincinnati Children's and is certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition.
