Betsy Medaugh, APRN, CPNP is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the division of neurology at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Betsy was born and raised in Centerville Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills KY and her advanced practice degree at Wright State University.

She has a special interest in caring for pediatric patients with chronic headaches, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, tics and epilepsy, but she sees patients with a variety of other neurologic diagnoses.

It is my privilege to work in pediatrics, children are not just tiny adults, they are unique in their medical needs and their care must incorporate a family-centered approach. I enjoy forming meaningful and lasting relationships with both my patients and their caregivers. I enjoy watching them grow up into tomorrow's future. I couldn't ask for a better place to be than Dayton Children's.

Outside of work Betsy enjoys hiking, boating, camping and spending time with her husband and three children.

I chose my specialty because...

I want to make a difference in my patient's health, overall well-being and quality of life. Neurologic diagnoses pose potential harm to one's overall quality of life. It is my goal to gain seizure freedom in patients with epilepsy, increase functionality and improved level of comfort in patients with chronic pain and migraines, and achieve improved level of mobility, function and quality of life in patients with cerebral palsy.

Betsy, our nurse practitioner, was wonderful, listened, was responsive, and made our experience with neurology wonderful. And we appreciated all of the staff that worked with us on this visit immensely. Thank you.

Elizabeth Medaugh is one of the best doctors in the neurology department. She answers patient needs. She gets what the patient needs, like, you know. She just a great doctor overall. And I would recommend her to anybody because her service is immaculate. Like, you can come to her for so many things and she makes sure that you're being heard.

I thought that Betsy was wonderful. She listened to all of my concerns. She gave me an option I was extremely happy with and everything is working out great.
