I chose my specialty because...

I've always enjoyed working with my hands and building things, from erecter sets to scale models of aircrafts, ships and buildings. I felt that I could translate my perfectionist tendencies in building things into fixing people. Having participated in a number of sports growing up including baseball and attaining a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do directed my interest towards sports medicine. I could not imagine doing anything else in medicine other than orthopaedic surgery.

I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...

I joined Dr. Albert and Dr. Lehner after a 21 year Air Force career. During my 12 years as an orthopaedic surgeon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, I worked part-time at Dayton Children's prior to my Air Force Retirement in 2004. Dayton Children's was the perfect size, in a great community, with a superb staff and I knew it was the right fit for me.

Dayton Children's is special because...

of its superb dedicated staff, it's great physical facility and it's just the right size in a wonderful midwest community.

My personal Interests are...

spending time with family, golf, history, art, architecture, traveling, reading, scale modeling and major league baseball.

Dr. Mikutis is a retired colonel in the United States Air Force Medical Corps. He was chief of orthopedic surgery at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center for seven years.
