Advanced Wound and Burn Care
Advanced treatment for burns and wounds from a caring, compassionate team
Dayton Children’s Hospital provides specialized, compassionate care for children with burns and non-healing wounds, and is dedicated to helping families deal with the physical and emotional toll that these injuries can cause. Our doctors and nurse practitioners work closely with other specialists at Dayton Children’s, including physical and occupational therapists, psychologists and nutritionists, to meet each child’s unique needs. We focus on not only addressing issues related to the child’s appearance, but also on helping patients achieve the best function possible.
Our burn program is designed for children who have burns involving less than 50 percent of their body surface. When a child comes to Dayton Children’s with burns over more than 50 percent of their body surface, our team stabilizes them, then transfers them to a hospital that is equipped to care for more serious burns. After discharge from that hospital, these patients can receive follow-up care at Dayton Children’s, including outpatient care and reconstructive surgery.
A physician referral is necessary prior to the child’s first outpatient visit. All follow up appointments will be made during your clinic visit or by calling central scheduling.
MyKidsChart makes it easy for you to stay in touch with your child’s care team, view your child’s medication information and receive important health reminders by email.
