Chairman, department of pediatrics/department of community health Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine

Dr. Pickoff is currently the chairman of the department of pediatrics/department of community health at Wright State University School of Medicine. He came to Dayton, Ohio, in 1999 to assume the position of chairman of the department of pediatrics at Wright State University School of Medicine. The department is located at Dayton Children’s. In December 2005, he was also appointed chair of the Wright State University department of community health. He has received numerous grants from the American Heart Association and The National Institutes of Health for his research in pediatric cardiology, published over 75 articles in scientific journals and is the author of 13 book chapters.

In addition to serving as a member of the Board of Trustees at Dayton Children’s, Dr. Pickoff is a member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Board and the Premier Community Health Board. Dr. Pickoff is the president of the American Heart Association’s new Great Rivers Affiliate Board of Directors.

Dr. Pickoff is a native New Yorker, earning his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed his pediatric residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Following fellowship training in pediatric cardiology and a postdoctoral NIH fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology, Dr. Pickoff joined the faculty at the University of Miami. After six years on the faculty at Miami he relocated to New Orleans, where he was director of the section of pediatric cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine. At Tulane University, Dr. Pickoff established a large academic pediatric cardiology program that included the latest cardiovascular procedures, federally funded research programs and the creation of the first accredited pediatric cardiology fellowship in the State of Louisiana

Upcoming Events

Free bike helmets will be given out as part of the Monroe Bike Rodeo this year.

The 1st Annual Logan X. Hess Stop Child Abuse Poker Run and Car Show will take place August 3. The ride begins at the Piqua American Legion and ends at Edison Community College. The car show will be at Edison Community College.

West Carrollton Police will be on hand to insure proper fit for all bike helmets.

Sample the distinctive flavors of the many cultures of Old North Dayton while enjoying entertainment, children's activities and a bicycle decoration competition for ages 9-16. All bike entries MUST be registered with the Dayton Police in advance at or at the Festival at 5:30 PM.
