Kohl’s Cares a Minute for Kids

This year, Dayton Children’s received $186,348 from the Kohl’s Cares ® program to support the 2012 Kohl’s A Minute for Kids Campaign. We will be using this generous donation to create radio and television spots featuring ways kids can keep safe on the go. With data from our recent pediatric health assessment as well as information from our trauma registry, we know that thousands of children in our service area could be spared injuries and emergency room visits by learning more about these injury risks.

Here are our key program messages:

Safety In Another Driver's Hands - Know what to ask of anyone who is transporting your precious cargo.
Never Leave Your Child Alone in a Car - Learn ways to prevent the tragedy of leaving children alone in cars.
Put A Lid On It - Learn the correct way a bicycle helmet should fit
Driving Distraction Free - Work with your young driver to keep him or her safe.

In addition, we have a downloadable "app' to help ensure your child is safe on the go!

About the Partnership

Every day, people and companies across our region are doing amazing things to support kids. Kohl’s Department Stores, Inc. is no exception. Through its Kohl’s Cares® program, Kohl’s strives to be an active member of each community where it does business. Right here in the Miami Valley, Kohl’s donates 100% of the net profits of special Kohl’s Cares® merchandise to Dayton Children’s to support the Kohl’s a Minute for Kids campaign.

Through the Kohl’s a Minute for Kids campaign Dayton Children’s is able to distribute life saving health and safety information to parents and caregivers across the region. Currently, the Kohl’s a Minute for Kids campaign produces popular radio spots and parent handouts to address the key pediatric health concerns in our community.

In addition to the generous financial gift from the Kohl’s Cares® program, Kohl’s associates have volunteered countless hours at Dayton Children’s events. And, thanks to the Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, their efforts are paying big dividends. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action, associates form teams of five or more to support a local children’s charity. Kohl’s rewards and supports the team’s participation with a $500 corporate grant given directly to the charity. Last year Dayton Children’s received thousands of dollars from the Associates in Action program which is used to fund additional health and safety programming.
