Medical imaging passes inspection with recommendation The medical imaging department was recently inspected by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). According to ODH, final inspection results stated "all items reviewed were in compliance." ODH also praised medical imaging for being a leader in "kid-sizing" radiation doses in our patients. This rule did not officially go into effect until April 15, 2009, but Dayton Children's has always been conscious of and concerned with "kid-sizing" our radiation doses. In 2007, the Society for Pediatric Radiology launched the Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging. At that time, medical imaging reviewed the process to see if there was room for improvement. What they found was that Dayton Children’s actually used low radiation doses but were still able to adjust our protocols to lower the doses even more.
