The department of psychology at The Children's Medical Center of Dayton offers a wide range of services to address the behavioral and psychological needs of children, adolescents and their families. Specialized assessments, testing and counseling are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Staff members serve on many care teams throughout the medical center.
Diagnoses or conditions treated
The staff of the psychology department is equipped to work with children experiencing a wide range of problems, which include, but are not limited to:
- Chronic illness
- Abuse
- Learning disorders
Services available
- Cognitive, personality and behavioral evaluations for inpatients and outpatients
- Individual, group and family psychotherapy from a variety of theoretical perspectives
- Inservice education and orientation presentations for residents, medical students, nursing staff and students, and other interested departments
- Consultation on various multidisciplinary care teams
- Consultation with other disciplines and departments regarding patient management, compliance with recommendations and other concerns
- On call in the emergency department 24 hours.
