The occupational therapy department at The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton specializes in evaluating and treating problems related to upper extremity function (such as range of motion, strength and coordination). Therapists in the department use standardized tests to determine the level of function of fine motor, visual motor/visual perceptive and activities of daily living skills, and treat deficits in these areas. Occupational therapists hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and are licensed by the state of Ohio. Occupational therapy assistants are also licensed by the state and hold associate’s degrees.
