Growing
Together is published quarterly for parents and families in the Miami Valley area by The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton. The purpose of Growing Together is to show how Dayton Children’s and families are working together to keep all children healthy and safe.

Scheduling hours expanded
Parents with questions about their child’s appointment in one of Dayton Children’s specialty clinics or medical imaging now have more time to call with questions. Central scheduling is now open from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. If we have already received a referral from your child’s doctor, call central scheduling at 937-641-4000 to schedule, reschedule or ask questions about your child’s appointment.
Lima clinics move to new location
For the convenience of families north of Dayton, pediatric specialists from Dayton Children’s hold clinics in Lima. These clinics have moved to a new location closer to I-75. Gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, neurology and nephrology clinics will now be held at St. Rita’s Eastside Urgent Care at 967 Bellefontaine Avenue in Lima. New anesthesiologist joins surgery staff
Iris Soliman, MD, a pediatric anesthesiologist, will be caring for infants, children and teens having surgery at Dayton Children’s. Dr. Soliman comes to Dayton Children’s from the Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Delaware. She is board certified in anesthesiology with special qualification in pain management. Dayton Children’s surgical services team performs more than 12,000 surgeries every year. Dayton Children’s is the only hospital in the region with that level of experience in caring for kids.
Recognizing excellence
Several pediatric specialists at Dayton Children’s have written and published textbooks as well as results of research studies. Sherman Alter, MD, director of infectious disease, Robert Fink, MD, director of pulmonary medicine, Sonia Michail, MD, director of gastroenterology and nutrition, and James Stark, MD, pulmonary medicine, have written or made significant contributions to recently published medical textbooks.
