M-F, 8:30a-5p, flexible: The Physician’s Assistant (PA) practices under the general supervision of the neurosurgeon. The neurosurgery physician assistant provides neurosurgical care to children with neurosurgical diagnoses, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Inpatient responsibilities include assisting with the admitting process, daily rounds, transfers, discharges, and consultations. Outpatient duties include participation in neurosurgery, myelomeningocele, and neuro-oncology clinics. Position may include assisting the neurosurgeon in the operating room with possible training needed. Prescriptive authority must be obtained. The role includes performing neurosurgical procedures such as shunt taps and lumbar punctures. Requires Master’s degree and Physician’s Assistant licensure. Pediatric neurosurgery experience preferred. Call requirements to be determined.
